Clinic Update

While I do maintain a private wellness practice, my current professional focus is serving as Chief Medical Officer for a company called EndoAxis.

At this time, I am not accepting new patients into my clinical practice.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Visits are guided based on service type, but with each 1:1 visit, expect to go deep! I like to maximize information and provide tools and resources. It can be a good idea to have a pen and paper at the ready, but a detailed synopsis of our discussion will also be provided following each visit. Be ready to learn about yourself, and about the choices you make and how they impact your health!

  • No, I do not accept or bill insurance.

Payment for service is expected at the time of the service. We accept cash, personal check and major bank cards, as well as Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Accounts.

I am able to provide you with a Superbill, which you can submit to your insurance directly to see if reimbursement is offered. This is not a guarantee of coverage.

Please note that I am not contracted with Medicare so cannot give a super bill to Medicare patients.

  • My focus is on optimizing your health by reviewing the unique aspects that can increase risk for disease.

My role is to educate, inform and empower you in knowing where disease risks come from, and to help you to shift the imbalance and improve your overall health.

I do this through a detailed investigation of your lifestyle, your environment, your upbringing, and more - as they relate to your genetic and genomic activity.

Think of me as your Health Sherpa - walking along side you, supporting the work you are doing, and helping you understand and navigate both your internal terrain and external environment to help make your health-oriented work less taxing while you engage in the diagnostic care provided by other conventional, holistic and/or alternative medical providers to reach your desired health mountain peak.

  • No. I am not a primary care provider. I can work with your doctor, but not in place of your doctor.

It is important for you to maintain the services of a primary care provider for traditionally recommended ‘standard of care’ annual tests, chronic medical issues that I do not treat, or for you to be able to be seen by your doctor for medical and mental health emergency services.

  • Functional genomics looks at SNPs (single nucleotide polymorphisms) that exist within the code of DNA. These small changes alter function of a subsequent enzyme or protein coded for by your DNA. This is NOT whole gene sequencing, and is not used to assess, treat or diagnose disease.

Testing of SNPs relates only to function.

Its purpose is to help identify where there may be weakness that could potentially lead to:

    • excess free radicals or increased oxidative burden impacting health outcomes

    • impediments impacting optimal digestion

    • impaired removal of toxins and poor clearance of substances that could lead to unhealthy symptoms

    • an imbalance of neurotransmitters that may lead to stress and anxiousness

    • less than ideal mitochondrial function needed for peak energy

    • impaired utilization of nutrients necessary for health

    • risk for weight changes and response to dietary support for weight management

    • immune regulation and impacts to immune health

    • and more!

Your data will never be sold or shared.

  • A test kit will be sent to your preferred mailing address that will review salient polymorphisms associated with health and nutritional risks.

Collection is via a swab that you will rub firmly along the inside of your cheeks.

Results are processed and available within 4-6 weeks.

Data privacy is a top priority. The lab I use will treat your data with the rigor and integrity your genes deserve. Their practices, procedures, policies, and technology are designed to safeguard your privacy and health data.

All information and connections are encrypted using SSL and they follow best practices that align with HIPAA and POPI standards.

  • Most functional labs do not take insurance, so expect to pay out-of-pocket for most recommended labs. However, you can always call the lab and request a Superbill, which you can then submit to your insurance to see if they can cover some or all of that cost (this is not a guarantee of coverage). I cannot do this part for you, as the lab must hear from the patient directly.

Costs for testing, prescriptions and supplements are charged not by me, but will come to you by the lab, pharmacy or supplement company providing the product or service I recommend. I am not able to provide direct guidance here, but you, as the insured, are able to call your insurance company for assistance if needed.
